We caught up with Christina Brand from South Norfolk business, The Candle Brand, to find out a bit more about her business.

Describe ’The Candle Brand’ for us.

The Candle Brand is a family-run home fragrance company based in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. Our candles are 100% soy wax with wooden wicks and carefully selected fragrance oils making them chemically safer to burn around families. We are also home to the reed and rope flower diffusers which are completely unique to the home interior market.

What inspired you to start ’The Candle Brand’?

We have always loved candles and burnt them frequently in our home. However when I fell pregnant and began to research the health hazards of home fragrances, I found that many were made from materials that were harmful to pregnant women and children. I had previously undertaken a candle-making course as I had the idea of starting my own business and putting my crafty fingers to use, and so from there I decided to start making candles that were chemically safer to burn around the family.

Tell us how your products stand out / differ from other similar products on the market?

Our candles are made with 100% soy wax. There are no traces of paraffin, parabens or phthalates in our recipe. We source our wooden wicks from a company that donate a percentage of sales to ‘trees for the future’, so every candle purchased contributes to this amazing charity. The Flower Diffusers are completely unique to the market. The flower arrangements consist of both rattan reeds and cotton rope attached to handmade sola wood flowers. The combination of reeds and rope provide a strong and lasting aroma which is dispersed through each individual petal.

Speaking of your business, what are you most proud of and what would you have done differently… and why?

I am mostly proud of the Flower Diffusers. I am proud that they are unique, and I am excited to be able to provide something different to the home fragrance market. They have sold out twice already and I am now awaiting my third restock.

What’s next for The Candle Brand?

We’ve exhibited our products at our first Trade Show the BCTF in Harrogate this April.

Finally, tell us about your favourite Norfolk day out… and why?

Our favourite Norfolk day out is feeding the ducks on the river because its so relaxing and our daughter loves to see all the different birds.

Thank you Christina. We certainly think your products are fab!
