Now this is a thing we love… Norwich City FC replaced the logos of their shirt sponsors for last Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Coventry City with the logo of suicide prevention charity Samaritans.
Ahead of World Mental Health Day today (Tuesday, October 10), for their game away against Coventry on Saturday, October 7, the club partners and shirt sponsors Lotus, Sekura.id and Turismo de Gran Canaria generously gifted their shirt sponsorship to the charity Samaritans, helping to raise awareness of the crucial support the charity provides.
The player-worn and signed shirts will be available for auction from the week commencing October 23 and all proceeds will be donated to Samaritans.
Prior to this game, NCFC invited all clubs in the EFL Championship to create their own ‘fictional line-ups graphic’. The announcement of the line-ups is a key moment in the match-day, and the eye-catching graphic was designed to prompt supporters to reach out to loved ones around them. All clubs took part.
Sonya Trivedy, Executive Director of External Engagement at Samaritans said:
‘Football clubs are at the heart of their communities, with the power to reach so many people and the fact that Norwich City FC and their sponsors are using their voice to encourage fans to seek helps shows just how on the ball they are.’
Norwich City Women also wore warm-up shirts showcasing the Samaritans’ logo before their fixture against QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday, October 8th.
Samaritans is a unique charity dedicated to reducing feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide.
They respond to a call for help every 10 seconds, day and night, for those struggling to cope, making sure people have somewhere to turn and support when they need it most.
