If you’re looking for a simple way to move more, meet people, and explore your local area, parkrun in Norfolk could be just the thing.
Every Saturday morning, local parkruns welcome walkers, joggers, runners and volunteers of all ages and abilities. It’s free, friendly, and all about taking part at your own pace – whether that’s chasing a PB or enjoying a relaxed walk and chat.
If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we’re massive fans of parkrun here and the whole family regularly gets out to run, volunteer and cheer, including on Christmas Day!
You really can’t beat it for community spirit, and it’s a wonderful way to start the weekend.
To help get you started, here’s a friendly list of current 5k parkrun events in Norfolk to inspire you (all take place weekly, almost always on Saturday mornings at 9am):
Greater Norwich
Catton parkrun (Catton Park – nice multi-terrain course, flat-ish with some long, steady slopes)
Colney Lane parkrun (Our home parkrun – off-road, undulating – think cross-country.)
Norwich (Eaton Park) parkrun (Flat tarmac park course – gets very busy)
Sloughbottom parkrun (Next on our list)
Greater Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth North Beach parkrun (Purported to be the hardest parkrun in England and possibly the UK. It’s definitely up there. Stunning shoreline strider, all on sand. Not for the faint hearted but worth a look for the kudos!)
Mid-Norfolk & The Brecks
Norfolk Broads
North Norfolk
Blickling parkrun (On our to-do list)
Sheringham parkrun (A lovely coastal run with nice views – undulating trail and off-road course that used to feature ‘Heartbreak Hill’ just before the end. Fortunately I don’t think the course includes it now – I could be wrong.)
South Norfolk
West Norfolk
Downham Market Academy parkrun
Junior parkruns
Under 14? There are also 2k junior parkruns (for ages 4-14 years) at:
Gorleston (Lower Esplanade – a lovely, fast, flat out-and-back route parallel to the sea)
Eaton Park Norwich – a fast, flat course on tarmac.
Parents can run alongside their children but won’t get a ‘time’, and of course, all ages can still volunteer.

This January, why not discover a new park, support your local community, and start your weekend feeling energised? One run, walk or volunteer role could turn into a new habit.
If you’re brand new to parkrun, just sign up and get your barcode (it’s free), set your Saturday morning alarm and you’re good to go!
